CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Charlottesville Police have a city resident in custody in association with an early Thursday morning shooting in the area of Mason Street. Officers were called the area shortly before 12:30am for a report of a shooting and found an adult male victim on the scene. He was transported to UVA with non-life threatening injuries. The subsequent investigation led CPD to Esteban Benjamin Fortin who is now charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

Police say detectives are still working the case, and anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 434-977-4000. CPD says the State Police 2/3 Tactical Team has assisted in this case.
