Albemarle County, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – An elderly Esmont woman was fatally struck at the Scottsville Center.
It happened on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at approximately 1:26 p.m.
First responders arrive to find 93-year-old Noreen C. Wilbourn of Esmont, Va. They attempted life-saving measures Wilbourn was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the investigation, Wilbourn had arrived as a passenger in the car that struck her. While backing out of its parking space, Wilbourn was knocked to the ground by the car’s front passenger door.

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA – On Sunday, January 12, 2025, at approximately 1:26 pm, the Albemarle County Police Department and Albemarle County Fire Rescue were dispatched to a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian at Scottsville Center.
Upon arrival, first responders located a 93-year-old woman in life-threatening condition that had been struck by a vehicle. First responders attempted life-saving measures but the victim, identified as Noreen C. Wilbourn of Esmont, Va., was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation concluded that Ms. Wilbourn arrived as a passenger in the vehicle that struck her. While backing out of a parking space, the driver of the vehicle reversed and struck Ms. Wilbourn with the passenger side front door, knocking her to the ground.
