WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. (WINA) – WINA-Charlottesville was the recipient of 13 Associated Press Awards in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., on April 1, including Outstanding News Operation of the Virginias for the 4th straight year.

The awards were were announced at the 2022 Virginias Associated Press Broadcasters Awards and Annual Membership Meeting, which was held at The Greenbrier Resort.

“This is outstanding,” said WINA Operations Manager Paul McDaniel. “I’m excited for my team and consider myself lucky to work alongside them.”

“Our on-air team is deeply committed to serving our listeners, and they put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into their work,” said General Manager Garrett Klingel. “But they also know how to have fun doing it and that only comes from teamwork. I couldn’t be more proud of them.”

Thirty-nine news organizations in Virginia and West Virginia submitted 709 entries in the contest, which featured news and sports from 2022.

WINA won ten First Place Awards and three Second Place Awards.
