RICHMOND (WINA) – The Virginia DMV this week has debuted a refreshed design of the Virginia driver’s license and ID cards. DMV’s Jessica Cowardin says this is done to enhance security features in resistance of counterfeiting. Cowardin says unlike Real ID, there’s no rush to get in and change for these designs.

She says with the card you have in your wallet right now, you’ll see the outside of the Virginia State Capitol. The new design takes you inside the Capitol to see the dome area in the rotunda, and there’s also the eastern tiger swallowtail butterfly and the American dogwood. Those are the Virginia state insect and flower respectively.
