CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – UVa two-sport star Jay Woolfolk is now one sport. The football/baseball player from Richmond who has played both sports since enrolling in 2021 says he is concentrating on baseball and will no longer participate in the UVa football program.
He started one game in football in the 2021 season against Notre Dame as quarterback, and saw limited action last season as a backup to Brennan Armstrong. At the same time, he settled in as the closer in UVa baseball’s bullpen and has had success as a reliever training this summer with the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team.
He would have had to compete with transfer Tony Muskett and other prospects for playing time at quarterback this coming season.
