RICHMOND (WINA) – Triple-A predicts 115-million Americans will travel 50 miles or more during the upcoming 10-day holiday season, and while not quite the record total from 2019, the airports will be packed. Triple-A MidAtlantic’s Morgan Dean says while the overall travel is 2nd only to 2019, booking data shows a record 7.51 million are expected to fly… about 200,000 more than the record 2019.

Part of the reason, Dean says airfares are generally cheaper with the average round-trip ticket to Orlando at $613 compared to $735 last year.

Dean says you’ll need some extra patience… and get to the airport in plenty of time since TSA lines and planes will be packed. He expects last-minute plane flight deals to be few and far between… but the more flexible your flying schedule, the better the chance you can pick up on a deal.
