Monticello Foundation Announcement
Please join us for our 61st annual Independence Day Celebration and Naturalization Ceremony. Every year, Monticello’s West Portico becomes an outdoor courtroom where dozens of individuals take the Oath of Citizenship to become Americans.
President of the University of Virginia, James E. Ryan, will speak to the new citizens. This year, the ceremony will feature a presentation of the colors from the Boy Scouts of America Troop 75, and music from the Charlottesville Band, the Charlottesville Opera, the Old Line Fife and Drum Corps, and The Oratorio Society of Virginia.
The ceremony and livestream begin 9 a.m.
The event is free, but registration for a shuttle is required. After the ceremony, visitors enjoy root beer floats and children’s activities on the West Lawn. And please be sure to visit our Community Partner Tent and learn more about local organizations and their contributions.
