GREENVILLE (WINA) – State Police have found the identity of the man killed while walking on the Route 11 northbound on-ramp to I-81 north early Friday morning. He’s 37-year old Tony Epperson of West Augusta, Virginia… about 10 miles west of Staunton.
A vehicle was trying to use that ramp to merge onto 81 at Exit 213 in Greenville after midnight Friday morning when he struck and killed Epperson — who was walking in the roadway with his back to traffic wearing all-black, non-reflective clothing. State Police say the driver — who remained at the scene and will not be charged — was unable to avoid striking him.
The driver was not hurt.
