WAYNESBORO (WINA) – State Police have released the identity of a hit-and-run suspect in Sunday’s fatal I-81 crash in Augusta County, but still seek the identity of the victim. State Police announce 25-year old Waynesboro resident Austin W. Eavey is charged with involuntary manslaughter and hit-and-run.

The victim — a middle-aged white male — was walking along the southbound lanes around 4am Sunday when he was struck by a vehicle at mile-marker 210… near Greenville. He had no ID on him… and is described as a white male with a tattoo on his right leg, and was dressed in black with a hoodie that said “Missouri” on it. He was also wearing white Nike sneakers and carrying a backpack. His body is at the state medical examiner’s office to try and find an identity and for an autopsy.
