CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – City Council by a 5-to-nothing vote Monday night approved former Deputy City Manager of Operations Sam Sanders as Charlottesville’s new City Manager, and tonight’s your chance to meet him. A lot of people have worked with Sanders during his 2 years in the old job, but Mayor Lloyd Snook says this is a chance to meet him in his new role as he takes over from interim Michael Rogers. Snook says this is also the opportunity if you want to express appreciation for what Rogers has done in the interim role since January 2022.
Snook says there will be some short speeches, but this evening’s event will mostly be a social occasion. It’s from 5-to-7 at Carver Rec Center.
Rogers is sticking around about another week to help transition to Sanders in full capacity.
