SYRIA (WINA) – Some rain is helpful to the efforts at the Quaker Run fire, and the Virginia Department of Forestry says a webpage has been created with information on this blaze. The fire is still listed at 3700 acres and 40% contained with light rain falling in the area.

The Virginia Department of Forestry’s Cory Swift said short-term, the rain has slowed down spread helping further containment lines. Firefighters were also able to conduct burnout operations, setting small controlled fires along the containment lines to remove additional fuel… then it rained on those areas which is ideal.

Accuweather had been concerned about a low pressure system to the south over the weekend that might kicked up winds, but that’s not in the weekend Accuweather forecast right now.
