CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – Rain is much needed in the forecast Friday, but Accuweather’s Joe Lundberg says don’t get your hopes up. It’s not enough to relieve streams and rivers at historic lows, parts of the area under “severe” or “extreme” drought, or a 3700-acre Madison County wildfire keeps jumping containment. He says the more significant rains will be around the North Carolina line, where it’s badly needed, too. However, we’re too far north to see anything significant.
Lundberg says some moisture is a help with the Quaker Run fire, but he’s concerned about low pressure passing to the south over the weekend stirring up some winds.
He says the next chance for any significant rain around here is not until just before Thanksgiving.
