LOUISA (WINA) – Former Delegate and newly-elected state Senator John McGuire announces he’s challenging Republican 5th District Congressman Bob Good for the 2025 nomination. In an email announcement to constituents, McGuire says he’s “a father; a Navy SEAL; a Day-One Trump supporter; a Christian conservative; and a pro-life, pro-gun business owner running to save America and help the people”.

A big reason for McGuire’s challenge is he accuses Good of not being sufficiently pro-Trump. McGuire states “on the day our president was wrongly indicted, Bob abandoned Trump by endorsing another candidate”… who McGuire doesn’t mention. Good endorsed Ron DeSantis the day the first indictment against Donald Trump came down.

He says we need to get Trump back in the White House, and need a new direction in the 5th Congressional District.
