CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – Mayor Lloyd Snook tells Morning News the six candidates for interim City Councilor all bring strengths and weaknesses. He said in talks among the four Councilors making the choice, none have a “primary most important” issue… so there’s a lot to sort through.

Snook said the two former councilors are most prepared, but their prior 8 years on Council bring baggage which is too much to overcome for many. The two school board people have experience in city governance and executive search as they had to choose Royal Gurley as superintendent a couple of years ago. But they haven’t made city zoning choices. As for the two youngest applicants Natalie Oschrin and Alex Bryant, Snook says they’re two young folks “who are very bright… and have a lot of experience in things that aren’t perhaps the 3 most important criteria for over the next 10 months.

Council will decide February 21 who will serve out the term of Sena Magill until December 31, after she resigned last month for family reasons.
