LOUISA (WINA) – A suspect has been arrested in a homicide in a neighborhood on Lake Louisa in Louisa County. Louisa Sheriff’s deputies responded shortly before 3:30 Tuesday afternoon to an address in the 700 block of South Lakeshore Drive. They found 29-year-old Alex Brown of Louisa unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds. Brown died at the scene.

A suspect, 36-year-old David Branham of Madison, was charged with murder and attempted malicious wounding. Investigators were told by witnesses that David Branham initially shot into a vehicle occupied by the victim and several others, and that Branham was recently involved in a custody dispute involving Brown.

The Louisa Sheriff’s Office says other charges are pending, and the shooting was an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the community. David Branham is being held without bond.
