RICHMOND (WINA) – Charlottesville area state Senator Creigh Deeds is among legislators both sides of the aisle saying a compromise deal on state budget amendments is likely to be reached in the next few days. Deeds told Morning News he thought they were on the way to wrapping up a deal Tuesday, but that came off the rails.
Senate Finance Committee chair Democrat Janet Howell says the deal could be reached by the end of the week. Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin says he’s open to a compromise of extending one-time tax rebates instead of permanent tax cuts. The Governor addressed the General Assembly money committees earlier this week.
