CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – Two incumbents opposed in Albemarle Board of Supervisors races fought off challenges in the Rivanna and White Hall districts. Bea LaPisto Kirtley got 61-percent of the vote in turning back a challenge from businessman TJ Fadeley.

Ann Mallek lost the Election Day vote by 146, but cleaned up in “early voting” and “mailed absentee” over Brad Rykal by more than 600 votes… and retains the White Hall seat with 53% of the vote.

Judy Le… running unopposed… retained her Rivanna school board seat… and Rebecca Berlin fought of a challenge from JoAnn McDermid for the White Hall school board seat with 54% of the vote.

In the hotly contested at-large school board race, Allison Spillman easily outdistanced Meg Bryce with 62-percent of the vote.

Other seats… Mike Pruitt ran unopposed for the Scottsville Supervisor’s seat being vacated by the retiring Donna Price… and Ellen Osborne stays in the Scottsville school board seat also unopposed.

Also incumbents winning new terms unopposed, Commonwealth’s Attorney Jim Hingeley, Sheriff Chan Bryant, and Clerk of Court Jon Zug.

Steven Meeks with 54-percent of the vote beat Mark Wastler for Soil and Water Conservation Director.

Voter turnout was 48%.
