ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA – At approximately 9:15 pm, on Saturday, October 14, 2023, units from Albemarle County Police Department and Albemarle County Fire Rescue were dispatched to a report of a two-vehicle crash on the 7400 block of Rockfish Gap Turnpike, near the Greenwood Road intersection.

Three individuals, occupants from both vehicles, were transported from the scene for treatment. Mr. Trevynn Lee Awkard, 23 years old, of Greenwood, VA, succumbed to his injuries overnight.

The crash remains under investigation by the Albemarle County Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team.
