RUCKERSVILLE, Va. (WINA) – The family of Jacob Fahlfeder, the Ruckersville man who was last seen on Jul 18, 2023, has doubts about a sighting reported by the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO).

According to a Wed, July 26, missing person update, a man matching his description was identified as Jacob Fahlfeder by witnesses who spoke with him in the 11000 block of Louisa Road in Louisa County the day before. According to the LCSO, an extensive search including drones and K9s followed, but was unsuccessful.

The 31-year-old Ruckersville man’s sister, Kayla Sisk, however, has taken issue with the new information.

The news release states that her brother was identified by witnesses who saw him leaving an unoccupied home and spoke to him, after which he left. She worries the way the sighting is phrased will make people think her brother identified himself, leaving them to assume he must be okay and stop being on the lookout.

She’s also disturbed by how he was identified.

“They showed them a picture of Jake and they were like, ‘Oh yeah, it looks like him, exactly him, except this guy’s clean-shaven,'” she says. “There is only one time that I have known him in the 10 years since he’s been working on that beard that he actually shaved it down to a mustache, and that’s because somebody pain him $600.”

Sisk is also upset that she learned of the possible sighting from one of the two involved and not from law enforcement.

“Quite frankly, we don’t think that they’re as concerned as they make it out to be.”
