CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – Early voting begins in Virginia Friday with everyone in Virginia choosing their General Assembly reps… and many choosing for their Board of Supervisors, City Council, and/or School Board. You can go to your designated early voting place in-person and cast a ballot without any explanation or excuse needed. Those who’ve requested mail-in ballots will have their ballots going out to them starting Friday. The last day a voter can request a mail-in ballot be sent to them is October 27. Then, as long as the postmark is on or before election day November 7, registrars can accept the ballots as long as they arrive by noon this year Monday, November 13. Usually that deadline is noon the Friday after Election Day, but Veterans Day observance this year is Friday, November 10, so the deadline is extended to the following Monday.

Charlottesville early voting in-person hours are Monday-through-Friday until Friday, November 3 8:30am-to-4:30pm each day at the City Hall Annex at 120 7th Street NE. On Thursdays, the hours are extended until 7pm. They’ll also open Saturdays October 28 and November 4 from 8:30am-to-5pm. A dropbox is available 24-7.

Albemarle does hours differently. The early voting location is at 1600 5th Street Extended at the county office annex. Hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 8:30am-to-5pm, Tuesdays 7am-to-5pm, Thursdays 8:30am-to-7pm and Saturdays October 28 and November 4 8:30am-to-5pm.
