CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – Democrats in the state Senate races have more than doubled Republicans in raising funds heading into the June 20 primaries… part of that because there are more Democratic primary races. According to numbers compiled by the Virginia Public Access Project, Democrats have raised almost $9.6-million and Republicans close to $4.3-million. Democrats have $8.8-million cash on-hand, Republicans $6.8-million.
In the 11th District Senate Democratic primary, Senator Creigh Deeds has outraised Delegate Sally Hudson with a little over $1-million to Hudson’s $869,000-plus.
In the Democrats’ 55th House District race, Amy Laufer has raised $317,000 to Kellen Squire’s $212,000.
In the Democrats’ 54th, Katrina Callsen has a big fundraising lead with nearly $173,000 raised, dwarfing more than $35,000 raised by Dave Norris and $18,000 by Bellamy Brown.
For City Council Democratic primary, Natalie Oschrin is the leading fundraiser with more than $29,000 to Councilor Michael Payne’s $22,000 and Lloyd Snook’s $6150.
Bob Fenwick and Dashad Cooper have reported no funds raised.
