CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WINA) – Charlottesville City Council adopted a new strategic plan Tuesday night. The first plan since the fiscal impact of COVID-19, it replaces a plan that has been extended multiple times.

The vision is to be a place where everyone thrives by way of a commitment to justice, equity, diversity and inclusion by implementing equitable practices and policies across the board.

City Manager Sam Sanders says the plan meets his goal of “bringing back boring government.”

“Organizational excellence is what “bringing back boring government” means. So, for those of you have questioned why that terminology is used,” he said, “it does not mean safe, it does not mean slow, it does not mean anything other than we want to be a better business, we want to make sure that we know what we’re doing and that we’re good at doing the work that we do.”

The strategic plan was passed unanimously.
