CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – Charlottesville schools have put out an alert of how community members can help Charlottesville High School through the aftermath of the violence that has besieged the school. They’re putting out an appeal to grow the substitute teacher and school volunteer corps. A release says volunteers should have “a willingness to help… provide a positive atmosphere for learning, along with a sense of belonging and safety”.

The school will also send a communication to the CHS community Sunday about “back to class” Monday with “upcoming and long-term improvements to safety and culture”.

Next Thursday night at 6, there will be an “information and feedback session” about changes, followed by brief Q&A and discussion groups to collect community feedback for the School Board and administration.

A release says, “throughout Monday and Tuesday, teachers and admin worked together to craft details for practical and immediate changes to CHS practices, plan a student assembly for Monday, and make progress on longer term focus areas”.
