CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – State Police say a Buckingham County man is in custody with multiple charges pending after drugs were found in his car after crashing on I-64 during a short pursuit in Albemarle County. Around 12:30 Wednesday afternoon, a state trooper attempted to stop a Chevy Silverado on 5th Street near the Holiday Inn when the Silverado driver rammed a state police K9 patrol vehicle and sped away.

The pursuit went onto westbound I-64 where troopers positioned their vehicles around the Silverado to force it to stop when it crashed about 2-miles later near the 29 bypass. A firearm, cocaine, and fentanyl were found in the car, and 39-year old Antwan Maxie of New Canton was transported to UVa for treatment of minor injuries before being taken to the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.

No officers were hurt, and the investigation continues.
