STAUNTON (WINA) – The Augusta County Sheriff is looking at allegations of malfeasance — or possible criminal violations — involving staff at the Shenandoah Valley Juvenile Detention Center in Staunton. On January 25th, the center’s director reported what might have been the illegal distribution of a cellphone to an inmate by a staff member — and several staff members taking money in exchange for extra food or preferential treatment of inmates. The next day, the director reported another cellphone recovered from a juvenile a staff member may have illegally given.

No other information will be given at the time.
