CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – Albemarle County supervisors took what White Hall Supervisor Ann Mallek calls “a small step” toward real estate tax relief for some. Supervisors Wednesday night agreed to raise the income ceiling for this immediate tax year to $83,850 from the old $75,100. There are 3 percentage relief brackets for income ranges below the 83,850 figure. They also increased the net financial worth limit to $250,000 from the old 200,000.

She says this is a small step as there’s consideration in the future to raise the net worth limit even higher… or doing away with it completely and making relief reliant on income only.
