CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – Transit a huge focus of the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors meeting with supervisors generally agreeing there’s a limiting scope for transit in the community without some sort of governing body overseeing it. Constultant Stephanie Amoaning-Yankson is asking supervisors ideas they’d like to see… and all agree a regional transit authority is needed. Supervisors and county staff are looking at the board made up of elected officials from the participating governing bodies.
The initial members would be Albemarle and Charlottesville with rural neighbors invited to join at their option… and there would be a partnership with UVa that runs its own transit, and participation from the state Department of Rail and Public Transit and the Metropolitan Planning Organization.
No action was taken, as the report is still under construction.
