CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – The Albemarle Board of Supervisors has approved more than $2-million from the county Housing Fund toward projects by Virginia Supportive Housing and Habitat for Humanity affordable housing projects. Rivanna Supervisor Bea LaPisto Kirtley tells Morning News they approved $700,000 for Virginia Supportive Housing to do Premiere Circle… the long-anticipated project to convert the old Red Carpet Inn into short-term supplemental housing. The intent of this housing is people housed in these units can get back into the workforce, then be able to move into more permanent type housing.

The board also approved $1.5-million for Habitat’s Cardinal Apartments at Southwood Village 1 to remain affordable for a period of 28 additional years.
