ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA – On October 29, 2023, the Albemarle County Police Department (ACPD) Criminal Investigations Division was notified of an assault that took place at Charlottesville Health and Rehab resulting in the victim being transported to UVA Hospital. As a result of the injuries that were sustained from the assault, 89-year-old William Sommer of Albemarle County died at UVA Hospital on November 21, 2023. On November 29, 2023, the Albemarle County Police Department arrested 83-year-old Raymond Boudewin Dewilde of Albemarle County on the following charge:

  • 2-32: Kill and Murder in the second degree

Raymond Boudewin Dewilde is currently being held at Albemarle County Regional Jail without bond.
