Dennis Charles Leonardi, age 84, of Zion Crossroads, VA passed away on February 28, 2024, in Charlottesville, VA.

Dennis graduated from the University of Illinois. Afterwards, he served two years in the Army and especially enjoyed his time in Germany. He then had a career of 40 years as a Certified Public Accountant for the Federal Government. He loved traveling, spending time with family and friends, especially his wife Lucy, his children and grandchildren, and helping out whenever needed. Recently, Dennis and Lucy moved from Lombard, IL to Charlottesville, VA to be closer to his daughter Sue and her family. He enjoyed talking often with his close friends Gerry, Ray and Tom.

Born in Chicago, IL, he was the son of Eugene and Elizabeth Leonardi. He is survived by his wife Lucy, originally from Brandenburg, KY; his daughter Sue Cantu (Joe) of Charlottesville, VA; his son William Leonardi (Marie-Laure) of France; four grandchildren: Juliana Leonardi, Elanor Leonardi, Nathaniel Cantu (Caitlin), and Lucas Cantu; brother-in-law William Shumate; his sister Joanne Scaletta; nieces and nephews: Betsy, Sharon, Larry (Heidi) and Mary Scaletta; EJ (Michele) and Amy Leonardi; and their families.

He was preceded in death by his brother Eugene, his sister Yvonne, niece Jodi and nephew Sammy.
