Harry Windell Rose, 69, a proud veteran of the United States Navy, entered the gates of Heaven on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at UVA Hospital. He was born February 20, 1955, to Marie Jackson Rose Davenport and the late Russell Emmett Rose.

Windell accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Hebron Baptist Church. He was born and raised in Nelson County, Virginia, where he also attended school. At the age of 17, Windell enlisted in the United States Navy. He valued this service highly and was honorably discharged on December 27, 1976. After serving his country, Windell worked for the United States Postal Service, retiring after 35 years.

Windell is preceded in death by his father Russell, his brothers Russell Jr., and William “Doc” Rose and his sister Carol Rose Johnson.

Windell is survived by his loving mother Marie, his son Russell Rose (Stephanie), his daughters Tamica Reed, and India Jasper, his brothers Joe, Sam (Elaine), and David Rose (Loraine), two sisters, Arlene Rose and Gladys Rogers, his six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and treasured friends. Windell is also survived by his loving partner, the love of his life, Rebecca “Becky” Tinsley, her children, grandchildren and loving family with whom he shared many wonderful memories.

Windell was a family man, he was a protector and a provider. He enjoyed fishing, traveling the back roads of Nelson County, spending time with friends and family and dancing with the love of his life, Becky.
