We regret to announce that Vojislav “Victor” Stefanovic, 83, of Afton, Virginia, passed away after a protracted illness on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at the Hospice of the Piedmont – Center for Acute Hospice Care.

He was born August 2, 1940, in Belgrade, Serbia, son of Ratimir Stefanovic and Milica (Mihajlovic) Stefanovic.

Holding a PhD in Electrical Engineering (McGill University), he taught at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, until moving to the United States and joining General Electric research division in Virginia. Vojislav was instrumental in educating and supporting generations of students and recent graduates. He was particularly charitable to numerous organizations and involved with the community and his heritage.

Vojislav is survived by his brother Mihailo “Michael” Stefanovic and Mihailo’s wife Ingrid Leman Stefanovic, in Ontario, Canada, nephews Marko (Montana), Ivan (Ontario), Boris (Ontario) and niece Tamara (Ontario), as well as grandnephew Weston and grandniece, Harlow (Ontario).

Special thanks to Sharonda and the Sentara teams at Martha Jefferson Hospital for their care and guidance during Vojislav’s treatments. Thanks to Hospice of the Piedmont for their attention during his last days. And thanks to Vojislav’s nephew, Ivan, who alone shepherded and cared for him in his final months at home.

Funeral will be held at the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Charlottesville, Va. at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2024. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery around 12:00-12:30 p.m.
