CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WINA) – The margins ranged from a hair’s breadth to a landslide in Tuesday’s Democratic primary.
Creigh Deeds beat Del. Sally Hudson by just 755 votes in Senate District 11, while Amy Laufer beat Kellen Squire nearly 70 to 30% in House District 55.
Katrina Callsen beat out Dave Norris and Bellamy Brown with nearly 47% of the vote in Senate District 54.
Natalie Oschrin will join Mayor Lloyd Snook and Councilor Michael Payne on Charlottesville City Council. That after beating Dashad Cooper and former councilor Bob Fenwick in their quest to fill the single open seat.
Two of the state’s most controversial political figures lost their party’s nomination.
Republicans apparently grew tired of state Sen. Amanda Chase, with Sen. Joe Morrissey being shown the door by Democrats.
