Travis Shawn Easton of Charlottesville, VA, a simple man with a heart of gold and affectionately known to his friends as Hokie, died on April 20, 2024 at the age of 46. Born on October 27, 1977, he was the son of James and Betty Easton and touched countless lives with his kind spirit and generous heart. He was a firm believer in God and is now at home in Heaven.
Travis graduated from Charlottesville High School in 1995 and spent several years working for Pepsi and Shenandoah Pride before attending Nascar Technical Institute in Mooresville, NC. He graduated in 2009 with an Associates of Occupational Studies in Automotive Technology with Ford Accelerated Credential Training and NASCAR with Pit Crew Certification, and returned to Charlottesville to begin his career as a Ford Technician. He worked at the local dealership, now Malloy Ford, for 15 years, where he achieved Master Mechanic.
Hokie was more than just a mechanic at Malloy Ford; he was the heartbeat of the workshop, a steady presence, known for making everyone laugh and his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was always there, always on time, a hard worker, and full of one-liners that will stick with many friends and family forever. His dedication to his craft was matched only by the warmth of his character, and his work friends were like extended family.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Travis was a devoted son, brother, and friend. He was a wonderful caregiver to his mother and father and enjoyed exploring hobbies with his brother, like late model dirt track racing and beekeeping. He was always willing to help a friend or family member, no matter how busy he was. He was a quiet man, until you got him talking on a topic of interest, and then it was hard to get him to stop. He loved pizza, Diet Mountain Dew, Virginia Tech, fishing, a friendly political argument, Civil War history and memorabilia, and his rotten old cigarettes.
He was preceded in death by his father James, his paternal grandfather Floyd Easton, and his maternal grandparents James and Martha Moubray. He was also preceded in death by Ann Mallory, Janet Yowell, James Yowell, Kathy Moubray, Judy Moubray, Bonnie Bennett, Joe Easton.
He is survived by his mother Betty Moubray Easton, brother RJ Easton (Amanda), grandmother Lillian Easton, nephews Chase, Walker, and Ryder; great aunt Laura Thacker, aunts and uncles Jean Yowell, Harvey and Sherry Moubray, Roy Moubray, Ricky and Kim Moubray, Don and Sherryelle Shiflett, Barbara Easton; cousins Roseanne and Scott Yowell (Mallory, Nicholas), Rachel and Greg Grimsby (Ann, Ben), Michelle Yowell (Landon) and Tracy Saxon, Courtney and Daniel Lantinga (Laci, Remington), Cody Moubray and Kendall Breeden (Trenton, Kadon), Bethany Moubray and Ryan Taylor (Gianna, Donovyn), Spencer Breeden and Courtney Wright, Zach Moubray and Bridgette Warner, Tyler Moubray, Corey and Kayla Moubray, Tammy Shiflett and Sherrika, Tabitha and Mike Gore (Cheyanne, Tre, Erica), Trisha and Megan Dalett, Mike Easton, Paul Easton, Sam Easton, Rusty Easton, Tracy and Chris Davis (Ryan), Mark Bennett (Kaitlin, Taylor, Alyssa, Meline).
