CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – With today (Monday) being Earth Day, Triple-A says if your car battery is 3 years old or older, this might be most eco-friendly time to replace it. Triple-A MidAtlantic’s Morgan Dean says through Sunday, Triple-A is doing their 13th annual Batteries for Trees program. During Batteries for Trees, Dean says they pledge to plant one new tree for every battery replaced by either their Emergency Roadside Service Team, or at any Triple-A Car Care location.

Dean says over the past 12 years, Batteries for Trees has led to the planting of 50,000 trees in national forests through the Arbor Day Foundation. The goal in 2024 is to bring that number to 61,500. Dean says 100% of car batteries replaced by AAA are recycled.
