STANARDSVILLE (WINA) – Greene County Schools administrators says the investigation into last Thursday night’s vandalism at William Monroe High School that necessitated closing school last Friday is complete, and those responsible are being held accountable. A release this (Wednesday) morning says several students entered the school around 11 last Thursday night using a teacher’s key fob. Over the next couple of hours, some 50-to-60 other student entered the school, vandalizing property to the tune of some $7000 damage.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a student from inside the school, and deputies arrived around 1:15 Friday morning. As a result of the investigation, the students who vandalized the building will be responsible for restitution and community service, and some students have additional consequences… but there will be no criminal charges at this time.

The majority of the damage required professional cleaning services and sanitizing of common spaces and restrooms. They, along with division and high school staff, initiated the investigation and cleanup from last Friday throughout the weekend.
