BUCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A man faces charges for the shooting of a woman in Buckingham County on Friday, April 12, 2024.

Someone reported a shooting at in the 4800 block of South James River Highway at approximately 9:12AM.

Officers from the Buckingham County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Wildlife Resources, James River State Park, and Virginia State Police arrived to find a 39-year-old female who had been shot in the left shoulder. She was treated by members of the Buckingham County Department of Emergency Services and was transported to the hospital for further treatment.

Officers detained Clint Rush at the location. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Rush had shot the female. Rush, 36, was arrested and charged with felon in
possession of a firearm/ammunition, unlawful wounding, reckless handling of a firearm, and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. The investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending.

The Buckingham County Sheriff’s Office has stated this is an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the public.
