Bomb threat leads to evacuation at 5th Street Station

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA – Albemarle County Police and Fire Rescue Departments were forced to evacuate the Planet Fitness and Haverty’s Furniture at 5th Street Station due to a bomb threat the afternoon of April 9, 2024.

Units were dispatched at 4:22 p.m. to a bomb threat at the Planet Fitness. In addition to the evacuation, 5th Street Station Parkway was closed for a period of time. Explosive-detecting K-9s from ACPD and the University of Virginia Police Department were dispatched to check the building for any explosives. There were no devices found.
