ORANGE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – March 16 is former President James Madison’s birthday, and the public has been invited to his Montpelier home in Orange County in celebration of his 273rd. Property passes are waived for the day, and at 11am the United State Marine Corps lays the Presidential wreath at the Madison Family Cemetary at Montpelier. That event will be live-streamed at the Montpelier Facebook page and will happen rain or shine. Saturday in Orange County is supposed to be a delightful 70-degree sunshiny day.
Home tours will be offered every half-hour from 10am-to-3pm. At 1 PM, Dr. Angela Kreider, Associate Editor of the Papers of James Madison at UVA, will give a talk on “James Madison and U.S. Relations with France, 1801-1808.” And Bowles Southern Fried food truck will be on site 11 AM-2 PM.
