RHOADESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A motorcyclist is looking at a major fine after reaching 129 miles per hour on Route 20 in Rhoadesville, located some 11 miles east of Orange.
It happened at approximately 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, which is the heart of school and commuter traffic. A sheriff’s deputy was parked at Edwards General Store when he saw the motorcycle and clocked it at 129 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone.
“With the multiple points of entry onto Route 20, this area has an advisory speed of 45 mph,” said Sheriff Jason C. Smith on the Orange County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page. “The driver was stopped near Pine Stake Rd and issued a summons for Reckless Driving by Speed with a mandatory court appearance next month. There is absolutely zero excuse for these speeds anywhere in the County, and we will not tolerate those actions.”
