STUARTS DRAFT (WINA) – The Augusta County Sheriff has a Staunton man in custody in relation to a Sunday afternoon stabbing at the Stuarts Draft Pizza Hut. Deputies arrived about 10 minutes after a 1:33pm Sunday call for service. Investigators say the male suspect initially ordered a pizza delivered to him in the Mint Springs area of the county. After the pizza was delivered, he called back and was not satisfied and demanded refund and another pizza be delivered to him. After being told to call back after 4pm when the manager would be on duty, the suspect reportedly showed up at the store.

A verbal altercation ensued inside the business and the suspect is accused of cursing at the employees. The husband of one of the employees followed him into the parking lot where the stabbing happened. The 56-year old victim had multiple stab wounds to his legs and was transported to Augusta Health.

Deputies later found 26-year old Joshua Ray Meadows in the Mint Springs area shortly after the incident occured and took him into custody. He is charged with malicious wounding and being held without bond in the Middle River Regional Jail.

Sheriff Donald Smith says the deputies received two conflicting statements from the males involved in this altercation, and they have obtained video of the physical altercation and will be reviewing and processing what took place leading up to the stabbing.
