CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Gunfire was reported early Tuesday morning in the 700 block of Madison Ave. in the Venable neighborhood, according to the Charlottesville Police Department.

CPD reported it was on the scene of the incident at about 6 a.m. Investigators found a shot hit a gas line and the Oxford Hill Apartment Complex has been evacuated as a precaution until the fire department deems it safe for residents to return. CPD said it believed the gunshots to be an isolated incident.

CPD said to expect a large police presence in that vicinity during that investigation.
