CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Charlottesville Police are circulating surveillance images of a suspect in Saturday’s shots fired incident on the city’s Downtown Mall, and asking the public for help identifying the man.

CPD responded to a report of gunshots being fired during a large disturbance in the 300 block of East Main St. about 1:53 a.m. Saturday, CPD announced. No injuries were reported, but some nearby businesses sustained property damage. Investigators found seven 9mm cartridges near the CVS store at 300 East Main St. 

According to a CPD release, detectives obtained surveillance video footage from the Downtown Mall and observed the suspect moving in and out of the camera’s view. At one point, the suspect displayed a firearm before concealing it.

“The suspect is then seen walking backward westbound on the Mall, pointing a firearm eastbound, and firing shots near CVS before turning and running south toward Water Street,” said the release.

The suspect was wearing a black hoodie with white writing on the front, light blue jeans and white sneakers.
