CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – All Buckingham County Public Schools were placed on lockdown this afternoon after Buckingham County High School “received a phoned-in threat,” according to a message sent to the families of students in the division at 2:14 p.m. Monday.

Students were then moved to another secure location, according to a source.

Shortly before 3 p.m., Buckingham County Schools informed parents that it would release students under heightened security, including releasing on bus and one car at a time. The school canceled all extra-curricular activities for the day.

According to the message from the school division, “law enforcement was immediately contacted, and there is a large onsite presence of both local and state law enforcement.”
