CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – For the second day in a row, Charlottesville Police responded to an overnight gunfire incident near Hardy Dr.
Unlike Friday’s incident, the one early Saturday morning saw someone struck, as a 15-year-old girl was wounded, according to a CPD release. The victim was transported to UVA Hospital and is in stable condition.
According to a University of Virginia Police safety alert, a shooting was reported at approximately 1:51 a.m. Saturday at the 800 block of Hardy Dr.
“Officers arrived on the scene and observed an individual suffering from gunshot wounds,” according to the UVA alert. “Witnesses reported a dark in color 4 door sedan with multiple occupants leaving the area and traveling toward 8th Street NW.”
CPD said the vehicle was a black Kia sedan “with tinted windows and a pink fuzzy steering wheel cover,” according to the CPD release.
On Friday, at approximately 12:46 a.m., CPD received a report of shots being fired at 800 Hardy Dr., according to UVA. No injuries were reported but CPD Chief of Police Michael Kochis told Cville Right Now that a vehicle was damaged.
“When officers arrived, they located shell casings in the area,” the UVA alert said. “Witnesses reported seeing three males wearing dark clothing leaving the area immediately after the incident.”
