CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Albemarle County Police are investigating the theft of three firearms from an unlocked vehicle on the evening of Aug. 12, an ACPD spokesperson told Cville Right Now on Thursday morning.

The ACPD received two reports of thefts from cars that night, both at properties adjacent to Gilbert Station Rd., spokesperson Logan Bogert said. The first call came in at approximately 8:54 p.m. and reported that three firearms were stolen out of two cars at one property. The second call came in at approximately 8:58 p.m. and reported money being stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

“In both cases, these cars were left unlocked,” Bogert said in an email. “We encourage the community to lock their doors and windows, never leave their keys inside the car, and take purses, wallets, cash, electronics, and firearms with you.”
