CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Virginia men’s basketball will play Vanderbilt in The LinkU Invitational on Sept. 27 at Credit One Stadium in Charleston, S.C. per release.
The exhibition is a first-of-its-kind outdoor college basketball exhibition – a doubleheader featuring Virginia and Vanderbilt as the first game at 1 p.m. with the College of Charleston and Citadel following at 3 p.m. The event, announced July 9, is a partnership between The LinkU, Beemok Sports & Entertainment and Credit One Stadium.
“We are so excited to be part of this unique event and really appreciate everyone involved in putting this together,” Head coach Ryan Odom said. “This is an opportunity to create a memorable experience for our student-athletes while bringing together four fantastic programs in an incredible setting.”
The event is intended to celebrate college basketball and fan experiences, with a ticket offering special access like open practice sessions with all four programs on Sept. 26, watch party programming in Charleston for the college football season and pregame entertainment before tipoff on Sept. 27.
“College basketball has passionate fan bases, rich traditions and a unique ability to bring communities together,” President of Beemok Sports & Entertainment Bob Moran said. “From the longstanding rivalry between the College of Charleston and The Citadel to the opportunity to welcome Virginia and Vanderbilt to Charleston, this event brings together great programs, great competition and a one-of-a-kind setting at Credit One Stadium.”
Credit One Stadium is known for hosting outdoor tennis events such as the WTA 500 Charleston Open, the largest women’s professional tennis tournament in North America, but has never held a basketball event before.
Ticket rates for the event begin at $25.
