CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Courtney Kraus Saunders will be promoted to Principal at Tall Oaks Elementary starting July 1, Charlottesville City Schools announced on Monday.

Ms. Saunders has become a vital part of the fabric of the Tall Oaks community,” Charlottesville City Schools Superintendent Dr. Royal Gurley said in a statement. “She is a leader with the skills to move elementary instruction forward, ensuring that every student achieves their full potential.”

Sanders served as the Assistant Principal at Tail Oaks for the last year-and-a-half.

“I am honored to step into the role of Principal at Tall Oaks,” Saunders said in a statement. “During my time as the Assistant Principal, I have been able to see firsthand the dedication of our talented teachers, the enthusiasm of our students, and the incredible support of the Tall Oaks school community. I am excited to build upon the strong foundation that’s been established at Tall Oaks and lead our school into its next chapter.”

Saunders joined Charlottesville City Schools in 2021 as an Assistant Principal at Buford Middle School.

Previously, she taught History and Dual Enrollment intro to teaching at Orange County High School.

She holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from James Madison University.
