CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW)- Augusta County Sherriff’s Office personnel have responded to a threat made against staff members of Buffalo Gap High School, causing a lockdown at both the high school and Buffalo Gap Middle School.
The sheriff’s office is also investigating a bomb threat at Augusta Health, it announced an hour after releasing the news about the schools.
At the two schools, there was a large police presence, and sheriffs established a perimeter around the buildings, but the campus had been secured.
“The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office and School Superintendent’s Office takes all threats towards our public schools seriously and treats them as credible threats until investigation either confirms or denies the veracity of the threat,” Sheriff Donald Smith said in a statement.
Access to the hospital is being restricted while K9s search the premises for explosives.
“If you have an emergency, we will get you into the hospital,” Smith said.
