CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – One person was shot and two others were injured in a shooting early Sunday morning at the Waffle House on Route 29, according to the Albemarle County Police Department.

The incident occurred at just before 4:30 a.m. at the restaurant located at 495 Premier Circle. There is no active threat to the community, the spokesperson said.

“At approximately 4:24 a.m. ACPD and Albemarle County Fire Rescue were dispatched to the 400 block of Premier Circle for reports of shots fired. First responders arrived approximately five minutes later and located one adult suffering from a gunshot wound. The gunshot victim was transported to UVA Health in non-life threatening condition. Two individuals inside the business at the time of the shooting also sustained non-life threatening injuries but were not shot. The suspect and suspect vehicle fled the scene by the time first responders arrived,” an ACPD release later Sunday morning said.

Only one lane of Seminole Trail northbound is open in the area of Branchlands Boulevard and Premier Circle, ACPD announced in a social media post.
